The Accidental Love Letter - Olivia Beirne

This book did not live up to my expectations. The novel was slow and lacked excitement, despite which could have been a really exciting story. I enjoyed the premise of the book but at times I found myself staring out of the window looking at the still trees as that was more exciting and stimulating than the prose. I wanted to enjoy myself and really become immersed into the characters world but it was a but of a battle.

The relationships are 'nice' but lacked substance and much more could have been explored. It felt as though the characters did not really want to let you in but were being reluctantly forced to engage with the reader.

I read this on the kindle but it's not one of those books that I would also purchase the paperback of for my bookshelves. Seeing it on my shelf would be stark reminder of what could have been a good book had the author delved deeper and allowed us in.

I did however, find the writing style easy and fun to follow which is always a bonus. I want to give the author the benefit of the doubt and try another novel in due course, but I won't be running to my local bookshop any time soon.
